29 Oct 2024

World Stroke Day is October 29

Along with others around the world, we’re raising awareness of stroke, its symptoms and supporting stroke survivors. Up to 80% of strokes may be prevented. This year, 2024, the World Stroke Day Theme is "#GreaterThanStroke active challenge".

This World Stroke Day, let’s unite to raise awareness about stroke prevention and take meaningful steps to reduce stroke risk.

Why is World Stroke Day Celebrated?

World Stroke Day focuses on:

  • Raising Awareness: Educating everyone about the signs, risk factors, and critical need for prompt action.
  • Promoting Prevention: Encouraging healthy habits to reduce stroke risks, like a balanced diet, regular exercise, and routine check-ups.
  • Timely Treatment: Emphasizing the importance of immediate medical help to improve recovery outcomes.

Quick Tips to Recognize Stroke - Think “FAST”:

  1. Face: Check if one side droops when smiling.
  2. Arms: See if one arm drifts down when raised.
  3. Speech: Look for slurred or unusual speech.
  4. Time: Act quickly and seek emergency care immediately.

By spreading the word and encouraging others, we can all be part of the #GreaterThan Stroke –Active challenge. Together, let’s make a difference in stroke prevention and care!
